Grêmio came from behind to beat São Paulo 2-1 in the Brasileiro Série A, Cristian Pavón scoring the winner in the 86th minute. São Paulo had led through Marcos Antônio's strike in first-half stoppage time, but Grêmio hit back quickly after the break.
Wallace levelled three minutes into the second half, converting from Carlos Vinícius's pass, before Pavón completed the turnaround with four minutes left. The game was punctuated by seven yellow cards, four of them in the 90th minute.
Despite having the better of the statistics—52% possession, 18 shots to 12, and a higher expected-goals tally of 1.69 to 1.62—São Paulo left with nothing. Grêmio had 1.62 xG and took their chances when it mattered, with Pavón proving the difference.
