A. Santillan outlasted I. Almazan Valiente 7-6(6), 2-6, 6-2 in the Pozoblanco men's singles, recovering from a second-set dip to close out the decider. The victory was built on a steady first serve (72% in) and clutch play on break points, converting three of ten while saving five of nine.
The first set swung twice: Santillan broke for 1-0, Almazan Valiente levelled at 4-4, then Santillan edged the tiebreak. The second set saw Almazan Valiente race ahead with breaks at 0-1, 2-3 and 2-5, turning a 1-1 score into a 6-2 rout. In the decider, Santillan broke for 2-0 and sealed the match with another break at 6-2, never facing a break point himself.
Santillan’s 72% first‑serve clip (67/93) proved decisive, as he won 69% of those points and limited Almazan Valiente to 18% on first‑serve returns.
