Viking FK edged past Sandefjord Fotball 2-1 on Wednesday night, taking the lead early before a late winner secured the points. Zlatko Tripić struck after nine minutes, but Evangelos Patoulidis levelled for the visitors just after the break. Edvin Austbø grabbed the decisive goal in the 79th minute to give Viking the victory.
The home side started brightly and Tripić poked home from close range to make it 1-0. Sandefjord came back strongly in the second half and Patoulidis slotted in the equaliser on 54 minutes. However, Viking responded well and Austbø turned in a cross to restore the lead with 11 minutes left.
Viking dominated the chances despite having less of the ball – they had 18 shots to Sandefjord's nine, and 2.10 expected goals against 0.38. They also forced four saves from the visiting goalkeeper. Sandefjord will feel they competed well in possession, but couldn't match Viking's cutting edge in front of goal.
