Dominika Salkova defeated Antonia Ružić 7-6, 6-4 at the Prague tournament, clinching the match with a decisive tiebreak in the opening set and a late break in the second. Salkova converted five break points overall, one more than Ružić, and struck three aces to none for her opponent.
The first set was a roller-coaster: Salkova broke for a 2-0 lead and again for 4-0, only for Ružić to reel off three straight breaks (at 1-4, 3-4, 5-4). Salkova broke back at 5-5 and then took the tiebreak. In the second set, Salkova broke at 2-3, Ružić broke back immediately at 3-3, but Salkova broke again at 3-4 and served out the set.
Salkova’s first-serve percentage jumped to 84% in the second set (21 of 25), and she saved 60% of the break points she faced across the match. She also won 53% of points on her second serve, compared to Ružić’s 36%.
