Maya Rapolu beat Sloane Johnson 6-0, 6-2 at the WTA 125K in Caldas da Rainha, never facing a single break point across the match. She held all six of her service games and broke four times, turning a lopsided return battle into a straightforward win.
The first set was a shutout: Rapolu broke in the opening game for 0-1, again in game three for 0-3 and once more in game five for 0-5, winning six games in a row. She broke immediately at the start of the second set for 0-1, and although Johnson finally got on the board, a fifth break of serve in game seven made it 2-5 before Rapolu served it out.
The numbers are stark: Rapolu won 45 points to Johnson's 20 and took 77% of her first-serve points (17/22) against Johnson's 43% (9/21). Johnson saved five of nine break points and won her second-serve deliveries into court, but landed just 43 per cent of first-serve points and managed only six receiver points all match against Rapolu's 21.
