Racing Club edged out Gimnasia y Esgrima 2-1 at home, despite the visitors creating the clearer chances. Matko Miljevic opened the scoring inside six minutes, but Bautista Barros Schelotto levelled before half-time. Nazareno Colombo struck the winner midway through the second half to give Racing all three points.
Miljevic turned in Santiago Solari's cross after six minutes to put Racing in front. Barros Schelotto equalised unassisted on 32 minutes, and the sides went in level. The decisive moment came on 69 minutes when Miljevic turned provider, setting up Colombo to restore the lead. Yellow cards went to Alejandro Tello, Mateo Seoane, Agustín Auzmendi and Renzo Giampaoli.
Miljevic was the star, directly involved in both Racing goals. But the box score tells a different story: Gimnasia had a higher expected goals total (1.85 to 1.22) and created three big chances to Racing's two, yet only scored once. Racing took more total shots (18 to 9) and had 56% possession, but were outplayed in the key moments.
