Banfield took a 1-0 win at Racing Club, with Alexander Machado's 24th-minute goal settling the Superliga contest. Racing had far more of the ball but could not turn their dominance into goals.
Machado struck just before the half-hour mark to put Banfield ahead, and that proved the only goal of the game. Racing pushed forward after that and created plenty of chances, but Banfield's defence held firm to see out the result.
The match stats show just how lopsided it was: Racing finished with 81% possession and 22 shots to Banfield's six. Yet Racing put only two on target and missed two big chances, while Banfield scored with one of their two attempts on target and took the win.
