Yulia Putintseva eased past Sinja Kraus 6-2, 6-3 in Båstad, breaking serve five times and saving four of the five break points she faced. The Kazakh was dominant from the start, never allowing Kraus to settle on her own delivery.
Putintseva broke in the opening game of the first set and raced to a 5-0 lead before Kraus pulled one break back, but Putintseva closed out the set comfortably. In the second, she broke again in the first game and saved all three break points she faced, then broke for the match in the ninth game to seal the win.
Putintseva landed 96% of her first serves and won 63% of those points, while converting 4 of 5 break chances. Kraus, who double-faulted once and aced twice, could only win half of her first-serve points and saved just one of five break points she faced.
