Puebla and CD Guadalajara played out a 1-1 draw in the Apertura after Eduardo Mustre's 26th-minute opener was cancelled out by Roberto Alvarado's equaliser in the 63rd. Guadalajara dominated possession and chances but could not find a winner.
Mustre gave Puebla the lead just past the quarter-hour mark. Alvarado levelled for the visitors in the 63rd minute, with Efrain Alvarez providing the assist, and the momentum stayed with Guadalajara after that as Puebla held on for the point.
The statistics underlined Guadalajara's control: 65% possession, 24 shots to seven and an expected-goals figure of 1.86 against 0.59. Yet Puebla's goalkeeper made seven saves, Guadalajara missed two big chances, and Mustre's strike was Puebla's only big-chance conversion. Guadalajara did everything but win.
