AFC Portchester won 2-1 against Portland United in the FA Cup first qualifying round. The home side took command inside the opening eleven minutes and then held on as Portland responded later in the game.
Lee Wort put Portchester ahead in the third minute, and Spencer Spurway doubled the lead in the eleventh. Portland United pulled a goal back to make the closing stages tense, but Portchester protected their advantage.
The decisive factor was Portchester's fast start. Wort's early opener set the tone and Spurway's quick second gave them a two-goal cushion that ultimately proved enough.
