Portland Timbers came from behind to beat Seattle Sounders FC 2-1 in MLS. Kalani Kossa-Rienzi put Seattle ahead in the 27th minute, but Kevin Kelsy levelled for the Timbers before half-time. Brandon Bye's 82nd-minute winner settled the contest.
Seattle struck first through Kossa-Rienzi, and the Sounders carried a threat on the break. Portland equalised in the 41st minute when Kelsy finished from Kristoffer Velde's assist, and the home side kept pushing until Bye scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute, with David Perreira da Costa providing the assist.
The stats show Seattle had more shots and created three big chances, but they missed all of them, while Portland scored from their only big chance. The Timbers also edged possession at 53% and expected goals 1.69 to 1.22, making the win a fair reflection of their greater efficiency.
