Zagłębie Lubin secured a 2-0 win over Piast Gliwice in the Ekstraklasa with two goals in the final 20 minutes. Despite being outplayed for long spells, the home side took their chances when it mattered.
The deadlock was broken in the 72nd minute when Jakub Sypek scored from Mateusz Grzybek's assist. Marcel Regula doubled the lead in the 86th minute after Sypek turned provider. Piast had a yellow card to Quentin Boisgard in the 68th minute but could not find a way back.
Piast dominated possession with 65% and had 18 shots to Zagłębie's 13, but both sides managed only two shots on target. The key difference was efficiency: Zagłębie's expected goals stood at 1.09 against Piast's 0.75, and the home goalkeeper made two saves while Piast's keeper made none.
