Philadelphia Union II beat FC Cincinnati 2 3-2 in MLS Next Pro, taking the points despite being second best for much of the game. Theo Reed's two goals and a late John Ruf strike proved decisive, as the visitors were far more clinical than their hosts.
Reed put Philadelphia ahead in the 23rd minute, but Kristian Fletcher levelled for the hosts in the 66th after a Stefan Chirilla assist. Reed restored the lead five minutes later, and John Ruf made it 3-1 in the 90th minute. Ademar Chavez pulled one back from Nathan Gray's pass in the same minute, but that was the last word.
The stats showed a dominant display from the hosts: 59% possession, 22 shots and four big chances. But Philadelphia's goalkeeper made nine saves and, with five shots on target, they scored three times. Reed's brace proved the decisive difference.
