Kingston took this one 5-3 in regulation, and the middle period was the whole story. A three-goal second turned a one-goal game into a four-goal cushion the Petes never fully closed.
The teams traded in the first, with Kingston ahead 2-1 after twenty minutes. The Frontenacs then ran off three unanswered to lead 5-1 through forty, which left Peterborough's two third-period goals as little more than a tidier final line.
The number that matters is 3-0 in the second — the only period either side controlled outright, and the one that decided the game. Peterborough won the third 2-0, but the deficit was already built.
