Annecy FC left Pau with a 1-0 win despite playing most of the match with ten men. Axel Drouhin's 11th-minute goal proved decisive, and Annecy held on after Clement Billemaz was sent off in the 16th minute.
Drouhin opened the scoring from Billemaz's assist to make it 0-1. Billemaz then saw red five minutes later, leaving Annecy to defend their lead for over 70 minutes against a Pau side that dominated possession and territory.
Pau had 71% of the ball and 16 shots, but only two found the target, with one big chance missed. Annecy, with just 29% possession, managed three shots on target from nine attempts and took one of their big chances - a reminder that control without cutting edge counts for little.
