Preston T. beat Parks A. 6-3, 6-3 at the US Open, leaning on a dominant serving day and clinical break-point play. Preston converted four of five break chances and saved four of five break points, while Parks converted only one of five.
In the opening set, Preston broke at 3-2 and then again as Parks served at 5-3 to seal the set. Parks answered immediately in set two, breaking in the opening game, but Preston levelled at 2-2 and took control with another break at 4-2 before serving out the match.
The key edge came off return: Preston won 75% of points against Parks' second serve (18/24) and finished with 53 points to 41. Parks hit seven aces, yet managed to hold only four of his eight service games.
