JYP Jyväskylä won 4-3 in regulation at Oulun Kärpät, taking control early and never letting the home side move ahead. Aaro Vidgren's first-minute strike set the tone, and his unassisted goal at 60:00 gave JYP breathing room after the game tightened.
Vidgren converted at 1:00 with Alexander True assisting, but Henrik Tornqvist pulled Kärpät even at 8:00. Jere Lassila put JYP back in front at 29:00, and after Samuli Ratinen forged a 2-2 tie at 46:00, Valtteri Ojantakanen needed only two minutes to restore the lead. Vidgren added a second at 60:00, and although Kärpät answered with a late tally in the same minute, JYP closed it out.
A two-goal night from Vidgren proved the difference, with four of the game's seven goals coming in the third period. JYP's clean second period — the only frame without a Kärpät goal — allowed them to carry a one-goal lead into the final stretch, and they made it stand.
