Aryna Sabalenka defeated Camila Osorio 6-2, 6-4 at the US Open, sealing the win with relentless returning and a 4/7 rate on break points. The Belarusian also saved five of the seven break points she faced, keeping control despite a tighter second set.
Sabalenka dominated the opener, breaking at 2-1, 4-1 and 5-2, with Osorio's lone reply coming at 4-2. The second set saw an early exchange of breaks at 1-0 and 1-1, before Sabalenka converted her decisive fourth break chance at 5-4 to close out the match.
Osorio's second serve proved costly: she double-faulted nine times and won just 24% of her second-serve points, while Sabalenka claimed 75% of those points as a receiver. Sabalenka also finished with five aces to Osorio's three.
