Norrie beat Buse 6-3, 6-3 in Montreal, with a stronger first serve and three breaks of Buse's delivery carrying him to the win. He also saved three of the four break points he faced.
In the first set, Norrie broke in game two and held the lead to close out 6-3. The second set began with another early break for Norrie; Buse levelled at 2-2 by converting a break in game four, but Norrie broke straight back in game five and added a decisive break in game nine.
The standout number was Norrie's first serve: he landed 69% and won 71% of those points, while Buse put only 42% in. Norrie finished with three aces and dropped just one of his nine service games.
