Bristol Rovers beat Newport County 5-3 in a remarkable League Two match, recovering from Harrison Biggins's first-minute goal to lead 4-2 and then holding off a late Newport rally. Fabrizio Cavegn scored twice, including the decisive fifth goal in the 90th minute.
Newport struck first as Biggins converted early, but Ben Purrington equalised just before half-time. Cavegn put Rovers ahead in the 53rd minute, Lee Jenkins added a third four minutes later, and Shaquille Gwengwe pulled one back for Newport. Bobby Kamwa made it 4-2 and was booked, and after Cole Jarvis had made it 4-3 in the 90th, Cavegn settled it with his second.
Bristol Rovers dominated the statistics, with 64% possession, 26 shots to Newport's eight and 11 corners. Newport's goalkeeper made five saves, and Newport took advantage of their limited big chances, but Cavegn's brace proved the difference.
