Philadelphia Union won 3-1 against New York Red Bulls in an MLS clash, despite being on the back foot for most of the game. The Union only had 33% possession and took just two shots, but they made them count with three goals.
Milan Iloski opened the scoring in the 9th minute. Cade Cowell equalised for New York in the 38th minute after a pass from Emil Forsberg. Indiana Vassilev restored Philadelphia's lead in the 57th minute with an assist from Francis Westfield, and Neil Pierre made it 3-1 in the 66th minute with help from Kai Wagner.
The Red Bulls dominated possession with 67% but registered only one shot off target and no big chances. The Union, despite having 0 shots on target, created one big chance and posted an expected goals figure of 0.50 compared to New York's 0.10. Ronald Donkor, Omar Valencia and Gustav Berggren each picked up a yellow card in the second half.
