New York Red Bulls II won 2-1 at Atlanta United 2 in MLS Next Pro after scoring twice in the final five minutes of the first half. Christian Gallagher and Andy Rojas Maroto got the goals, and the visitors held on despite a quick reply from the hosts after the break.
Gallagher opened the scoring in the 41st minute, turning in Rojas Maroto's assist. Rojas Maroto doubled the lead on 45 minutes, and Enzo Dovlo pulled one back for Atlanta just two minutes after the restart with Cameron Dunbar providing the assist. That was as close as the home side got, with no further goals.
Rojas Maroto was the difference, with a goal and an assist in the decisive first-half spell. The visitors also created the better chances, posting 19 shots, seven big chances and an expected-goals total of 2.18. Atlanta had more possession at 54%, but New York's goalkeeper made six saves to protect the lead.
