Toronto FC beat New England Revolution 2-1 in MLS, taking both goals late in the first half to build a lead they would not surrender. The hosts made the most of limited attacking output, scoring twice before the break and holding on despite going down to ten men.
William Sands opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, and two minutes later Niklas Dorsch made it 2-0 from Đorđe Mihailović's assist. New England kept pushing after the interval, and although Toronto were reduced to ten men when Mihailović was sent off in the 76th minute, Wilson Harris's 90th-minute goal from Jack Harrison's assist proved only a consolation.
The box score made for an odd read: Toronto won with just one shot and 36% possession, while New England recorded two shots, one on target, and 64% of the ball. The visitors also forced a save from the Toronto goalkeeper, but the damage had been done before the red card.
