SC Telstar took the points in the Eredivisie with a 2-1 win at NEC Nijmegen, scoring twice inside the opening 24 minutes before withstanding heavy late pressure. Patrick Brouwer and Rui Mendes gave the visitors their platform, and though NEC dominated the ball, they could not force an equaliser.
Telstar led inside a minute when Patrick Brouwer turned in Abdelnour Soualhia's assist. Rui Mendes doubled the lead on 24 minutes, this time Brouwer turning provider. NEC kept pushing and pulled one back through Kaj Sierhuis in the 82nd minute, Dušan Tadić supplying the pass, but Telstar held on for the win.
The stats show just how much NEC controlled the contest: 71% possession, 27 shots and 13 corners to Telstar's 29%, eight shots and three goalkeeper saves. Telstar were outplayed in territory but took their chances when it mattered most.
