Nakashima dismantled Baez 6-2, 6-1, 6-0 at the US Open, winning in straight sets with a near-flawless serving display. He hit 12 aces, did not face a single double fault and saved all three break points he faced.
Nakashima took control in the first set, breaking at 3-1 and again at 6-2. He then ran away with the second set by breaking at 2-0 and 4-0, and completed the rout with three more breaks at 1-0, 3-0 and 5-0 in the third.
The standout number was Nakashima's first serve: he won 86% of points behind it (37/43) and finished with 12 aces to Baez's zero. He converted seven of 11 break chances, while Baez never turned any of his own opportunities into a break.
