Lorenzo Musetti beat Arthur Fery 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 at the US Open, winning in straight sets behind sharp serving and clinical returning. Musetti converted five breaks against Fery’s one and held 12 of his 13 service games.
Musetti broke in games seven and nine to take the opener, then claimed the second with a single break in game six. The third set was tighter: Fery levelled at 5-5, but Musetti broke again in game 11 and served out the match.
Musetti’s numbers on serve stood out: he won 77% of first-serve points and 71% of second-serve points, saved four of five break points and hit seven aces. Fery, by contrast, won only 9 of 14 service games and saved three of eight break points.
