Jaume Munar beat Terence Atmane 6-7, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6, 7-5 at the US Open, recovering from two sets down after a slow start. The turning point was a dominant third set and a fourth-set tiebreak win, before Munar sealed the decider with a break in the tenth game.
Atmane took the opener on a tiebreak and added the second set 6-3 to put Munar on the brink. Munar responded by racing through the third 6-1 and levelling the match in the fourth-set tiebreak. In the final set, the only break went Munar's way in the tenth game as he closed out 7-5.
Munar's serving was the difference: he finished with 11 aces against Atmane's six and only three double faults, converting five break points. Atmane saved seven of twelve break chances, but could not prevent Munar's comeback.
