Jodar R. came from a set down to beat Moutet C. 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 at Montreal. The turnaround was built on his return game: after creating no break-point chances in the opener, Jodar broke Moutet five times across the last two sets.
Moutet took the opener with a single break in game five for 2-3. In the second set, Jodar lost the first game before reeling off six games in a row, breaking in games two, four and six for 6-1. The decider stayed close until Jodar broke at 2-1, was pegged back at 2-2, then struck again at 4-3 and in the final game at 6-3.
Moutet had the edge in aces (4-1) and first-serve percentage (62% to 55%), yet Jodar was the more clinical player on the decisive points: he saved five of eight break points and converted five of six, winning 83 points to 77.
