Club Necaxa came from behind to beat ten-man Monterrey 2-1 in a Primera Division Apertura match they largely controlled. Stefan Medina's red card in the 20th minute left the visitors a man down for over 70 minutes, and Necaxa made their numerical advantage count with a late winner.
Julián Carranza opened the scoring for Necaxa in the 56th minute from Francisco Méndez's assist. Lucas Ocampos equalised for Monterrey just after the hour mark, but Juan Valencia struck the winner in the 90th minute, set up by Mauro Zaleta.
Necaxa dominated the stats: 65% possession, 18 shots to Monterrey's 6, and an expected goals of 3.01 to 1.03. Monterrey goalkeeper made seven saves to keep his side in the game, but Necaxa's second big chance of the match proved decisive.
