Thiago Monteiro cruised past Mattia Mazza 6-1, 6-4 in San Marino, dominating on serve and return. The Brazilian converted four break points to Mazza's one and saved half of the two break points he faced, while winning 75% of first-serve points to Mazza's 51%.
Monteiro raced through the first set with breaks at 3-1 and 5-1, losing just one game. The second set was tighter: Monteiro broke for 3-2, then again for 5-2, but Mazza immediately broke back at 5-3 before Monteiro closed it out 6-4.
Monteiro did not double-fault once and won all 17 of his second-serve points in the match, a perfect 100% mark. He also saved his only break point of the opening set, while Mazza saved just two of six break points overall.
