Mitsui beat Sornlaksup 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 in Astana. He took the opener in a tie-break, dropped the second 1-6, then closed out the decider with two breaks of serve.
After Sornlaksup broke for a 4-2 lead in set one, Mitsui hit back with breaks in games nine and eleven, only for Sornlaksup to level at 6-6; Mitsui then took the tie-break. Sornlaksup broke three times in the second set, in games one, five and seven. In the third, Mitsui broke in game three and game seven; Sornlaksup cut the gap to 3-5, but Mitsui held on to win 6-4.
Although Sornlaksup finished with more breaks (6-4), more service games won (9-8) and more total points (86-84), it was Mitsui who came through. He saved five of the eleven break points he faced and won eleven receiving points in the decider.
