San Jose Earthquakes II went through on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Minnesota United FC 2 in MLS Next Pro. Zachary Bohane's equaliser in the 63rd minute cancelled out Sam Vigilante's opener and the shootout finished 3-1 to San Jose.
Minnesota took the lead in the 48th minute when Sam Vigilante found the net. Zachary Bohane levelled for San Jose in the 63rd and the sides could not be separated, with the tie decided from the penalty spot. Jack Clarkson was booked in the 36th minute, while Martin Kwende Junior and Hector Cruz were also shown yellows late on.
Minnesota were the more threatening side, holding 53% possession and producing 2.47 expected goals to San Jose's 1.77, with five big chances to one. San Jose still took their chance and then held their nerve in the shootout to claim the win.
