Mertens broke in game nine of the opening set at 4-5 and then served out for 6-4. She repeated the move at 2-3 in game five of the second set, and that was enough; Quevedo created just one break point across the match, and Mertens saved it.
The standout number was Mertens' serving: she won all nine of her service games, landed 84% of first serves and hit six aces to Quevedo's one. Quevedo actually won more service points overall, 46-38, but could not make Mertens pay on return.
