Mejía N. defeated Soto M. 6-1, 7-5 to advance in Bogota. The home favorite dominated the first set, converting three of his nine break opportunities to race through the opener.
After breaking at 2-0, 4-0 and 5-1 in the first set, Mejía faced a tougher test in the second. Soto broke first for a 3-1 lead, but Mejía levelled by breaking back at 3-4 before sealing the match with a decisive break at 6-5.
Mejía won 39 return points (65%) and converted 4 of 15 break points overall. Soto struggled with his delivery, committing eight double faults and winning only 49% of first-serve points.
