C. McNally defeated A. Koevermans 7-5, 6-1 at the US Open, taking the match in straight sets. McNally was more clinical in the key moments, converting three of five break points and saving one of the two break points she faced.
The first set swung back and forth with early breaks before McNally made the decisive move in game 11, breaking at 5-6 to close it out. She carried that into the second set, breaking in the first, third and fifth games; Koevermans briefly hit back with a break in game four, but McNally sealed it 6-1.
The standout number was McNally's efficiency on her first serve: she won 26 of 37 points (70%) behind it, compared with Koevermans' 15 of 26 (58%). McNally also won seven of her eight service games, while Koevermans managed four of seven.
