Matsuda K. came from behind to beat Meng F. 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 in Zhangjiagang. After dropping the opening set, Matsuda found a higher level in the second and edged the decider in a tiebreak.
Meng controlled the first set 6-2, but Matsuda levelled with a 6-3 second set. In the third, breaks came at 4-4, 4-5 and 5-6, and after reaching 6-6, Matsuda won the tiebreak 7-6 to close the match.
Matsuda converted three breaks in the final set to Meng's one, and that edge in the crucial moments proved decisive. The win showed his resilience after a slow start.
