The first set saw six breaks of serve, with Martineau breaking at 1-0, 2-1, 5-2 and 6-3 to seal it 6-3 despite Crawford breaking back at 1-1 and 5-3. The second set featured eleven breaks, each player responding to the other's break. Crawford gained the decisive break at 5-6 to win 7-5. In the final set, breaks occurred on every return game until Martineau broke at 6-6 to force a tiebreak, which he won to take the set 7-6.
