Reading thrashed Mansfield Town 5-0 in League One, three first-half goals effectively settling the contest before the break. Jack Marriott scored twice, with Benn Ward and George Earthy also finding the net as Reading raced into a commanding position.
The opener came in the 35th minute when Jeriel Dorsett set up Marriott, and Ward doubled the lead five minutes later. Earthy made it 3-0 before half-time from Kyreece Lisbie's assist, then Marriott struck again on 58 minutes after Lewis Wing's pass, with Jacob Brown rounding off the scoring late on from Randell Williams' delivery.
Reading were far the more dangerous side, taking 20 shots to Mansfield's 11 and posting an expected-goals total of 2.79 against 1.28. Possession was close at 51% to 49%, but Reading created seven big chances and scored three of them, while Mansfield managed just one big chance all afternoon.
