Lille took the points with a 2-0 win at Angers in Ligue 1, settling the match inside the opening half-hour. Angers had more of the ball and more shots, but Lille were the sharper side where it mattered.
Olivier Giroud put Lille ahead in the 11th minute, turning in Nabil Bentaleb's assist. Tiago Santos doubled the lead on 31 minutes, and Angers could not find a way back despite pushing for a response.
The standout number was Lille's accuracy: eight of their 11 shots were on target, while Angers had 17 attempts but only two on target. Angers' goalkeeper made six saves, but the damage had been done early.
