Lee broke in game 1 at 1-0 and protected that lead to 6-4. The second set swung sharply: Knutson moved ahead 0-2, Lee replied at 1-2, held for 2-2 and broke for 3-2, only for Knutson to level at 3-3. Lee then broke in game 11 at 6-5 and served out to 7-5.
The clearest edge was behind the second serve: Lee won 8 of 12 points on his second delivery (67%), while Knutson won 9 of 25 (36%) and finished with seven double faults. Lee's 27 return points won to Knutson's 19 proved enough even though Knutson had the better service-points count.
