Ilagan A. came from a set down to beat Kwon S. 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the Lexington Men's Singles. The match turned on a tight second-set tiebreak, which Ilagan took after a string of breaks at 3-1, 3-2, 4-5 and 5-5.
Kwon controlled the opener, breaking at 3-2 and again at 6-3. The second set swung repeatedly — Kwon broke at 3-1, Ilagan hit back at 3-2, and they traded breaks at 4-5 and 5-5 before the tiebreak. In the decider, Kwon broke immediately at 1-0, but Ilagan levelled at 2-2 and sealed the match with a late break.
Ilagan won despite winning fewer points outright: Kwon had 58 to Ilagan's 45. Ilagan hit five aces to Kwon's eleven and made five double faults, but saved seven of the ten break points he faced.
