Royale Union Saint-Gilloise claimed a commanding 5-1 victory at KVC Westerlo after falling behind early. The visitors took control before the hour mark and never looked back. Union's superior attacking output was decisive, even though Westerlo saw more of the ball overall.
Westerlo led through Norman Bassette's 13th-minute opener, but Promise Akinpelu equalised for Union in the 28th minute. Raul Florucz put the visitors ahead in the 57th minute, Relebohile Mofokeng made it 3-1 on 64, and late goals from Da Silva Carvalho Guilherme Henriques Guilherme Guilherme and Darius Olaru sealed a one-sided finish.
Union had far more of the goal threat, matching 19 shots to Westerlo's 12 and putting 10 on target to their hosts' three. Westerlo's 55% possession and 438 accurate passes counted for little as Union converted their chances with ruthless efficiency, registering an expected-goals total of 1.79 to 0.76.
