Marozsan beat Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-4 at Winston Salem, controlling the match behind an eight-ace serving display. He won 76% of points on his first serve and broke three times, conceding only one break.
In the opener Marozsan struck first at 0-1, and although Kecmanovic answered at 1-1 and 2-2, the Hungarian kept re-breaking and took the set 6-3. Marozsan again moved ahead in the second set with breaks at 1-2 and 1-4; Kecmanovic’s late reply at 3-5 only shortened the deficit before Marozsan wrapped it up 6-4.
The serve made the difference: Marozsan fired eight aces to one and saved three of four break points he faced. Kecmanovic won just 58% of first-serve points to Marozsan’s 76%, leaving himself under constant pressure.
