Mikulskytė beat Kawa 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 in Warsaw, recovering after losing the second set to run away with the decider. The decisive set went her way after an early exchange of breaks, as Kawa's serve fell apart.
After Kawa broke for 3-2 in the opener, Mikulskytė hit straight back for 3-3, then broke in game 12 to take the set 7-5. Kawa responded with breaks in games 1 and 5 of the second set to level the match. In the decider Mikulskytė lost game 1, but broke immediately at 1-1, then again at 1-3 and at 1-5 to close out 6-1.
The key was Kawa's serve in the final set: she won just 2 of 10 service points. Mikulskytė, who converted four break points in the match, also put together a run of ten straight points to seal the win.
