Karlsruher SC came from behind to beat Preußen Münster 2-1 in the DFB Pokal first round. Münster led through Montell Ndikom's 35th-minute goal, but Karlsruher hit back with two goals in the second half. The visitors finished with a man advantage after Samuel Moïse Althaus was sent off in the 90th minute.
Marvin Wanitzek levelled in the 69th minute, converting Deniz Ofli's assist to make it 1-1. Sebastian Jung then grabbed the winner in the 81st minute, turning in Moritz Broschinski's assist. Münster had held firm after Ndikom's opener, but Karlsruher's pressure told once Wanitzek scored.
The numbers underlined Karlsruher's control: 15 shots to eight, six on target to three, and 56% possession. They also made 375 accurate passes to Münster's 269 and won eight corners to three. Münster's goalkeeper made four saves, but the home side could not find a second goal.
