HPK handled KalPa 4-2 at home, and the first period did most of the work. Two goals inside the opening 15 minutes gave the hosts a 2-0 cushion they never surrendered.
HPK scored at minute 3 and again at 15 for the 2-0 first-period edge. KalPa answered at 27 to make it 3-1 after 40, but HPK restored the two-goal margin at 28 and again at 54 for 4-2; KalPa's goal at 60 came too late to matter.
The margin lived in period one: HPK won it 2-0 and split the remaining two frames 1-1 apiece. Four goals from four different points of the game, none of them requiring overtime.
