Paula Badosa eased past Anhelina Kalinina 6-3, 6-1 at the WTA Iasi event, largely on the strength of a relentless return game. Badosa converted five of eight break points while saving three of five, overwhelming Kalinina's serve throughout the 65-minute contest.
The first set featured six breaks of serve, with Badosa striking first at 2-0 only to be broken back immediately. She regained the lead at 3-1, let Kalinina level at 4-3 after a break, then reeled off the final two games, breaking in game eight to close it out. The second set was one-way traffic: Badosa broke in the opening game, added another at 4-1, and sealed the match at 6-1 with a third break.
Badosa's second-serve return proved decisive: she won 73% of points on Kalinina's second delivery, while Kalinina double-faulted six times and managed just a 26% win rate on her own second serve.
