Kairat Almaty made light work of Atyrau with a dominant first-half display, racing into a three-goal lead before half an hour. The visitors’ early intensity proved too much for the hosts, who could only muster a late consolation in a 3-1 defeat.
Franjo Prce opened the scoring in the eighth minute, steering the ball home from close range. Edmilson then took centre stage, netting twice in quick succession – first in the 15th minute to make it 2-0, then again eight minutes later to put Kairat firmly in control. Atyrau pulled one back deep into stoppage time, ten minutes after the 90-minute mark, but it was far too little, too late.
Edmilson’s brace was the standout contribution, his sharp finishing killing the contest before it had truly begun. Atyrau’s lone goal arrived without a credited scorer, and they rarely troubled the visitors aside from that late effort. The yellow card for Atyrau’s Đorđe Maksimović summed up a frustrating afternoon for the home side.
