Kolner Haie turned a one-goal deficit into a 3-1 win over KAC Klagenfurt in regulation, and the middle period did the work. Cologne scored twice in the second to flip the game after trailing 0-1 through 20 minutes.
Raphael Herburger opened the scoring at 8 minutes, assisted by Clemens Unterweger, and that held to the first intermission. Patrick Russell tied it at 24 and put Cologne ahead at 39, both times set up by Marcel Noebels, for a 2-1 lead after two. The hosts added a third at 58 to close it out.
Russell's two-goal night was the difference, with Noebels assisting on both. From 0-1 down, Cologne finished the game on a 3-0 run across the second and third.
