MVV Maastricht beat Jong FC Utrecht 2-1 in the Eerste Divisie. The decisive moment came early in the second half when Elias Sierra restored the lead after the sides had traded goals inside the opening six minutes.
Ilias Breugelmans opened the scoring in the second minute from Lennerd Daneels' assist, but Bjorn Menzo equalised for Utrecht four minutes later after Massien Ghaddari set him up. Sierra then converted Delano Asante's assist in the 46th minute to make it 2-1. Emeka Adeile and Lennerd Daneels were booked before half-time.
Despite Utrecht shading the shot count 14-13, MVV were far more clinical, putting seven shots on target to Utrecht's three. Their expected-goals total was 1.27 against 0.59, and only five saves from the visiting goalkeeper kept the margin at 2-1.
